Where did it go?

I've checked my email, read comics, news, forums and blogs and now ... what do I do?  It's a dangerous thing when you have the vastness of the Internet at your fingertips and nothing to do.

Maybe I'm just not interested in my options.  I'm increasing upset at the commercialism of our current social networks.  MySpace has diluted and denied it's content so much, it's no longer My Space.  Facebook has been turned into a spam network.  All the applications require you to invite all your friend to continue the application.  I have a hard time spamming all my friends with application invites just so I can continue to the next level of the game.  It's also become so crowded with applications, it's no longer the "clean" network it advertises itself to be.  Where did it go?

Where is the pure social network?  Where is the open social network that excludes all the "spapps" (spam apps) and commercial advertisements.  Where can I simply ... network?

the MIX

This is a fun community. Unlike MySpace or Facebook, they actually talk about things. It's really nice to read articles and ideas from interesting and smart people. I think everyone should be part of something.

Currently, in the past few episodes, Epic-FU has launched a mystery. A puzzle game of sorts. It's about an awakening of the internet. It is cult-like in that, you take a pledge to make it to the next level. It starts here. Check it out. Maybe, you should join up and share your ideas as to what happened.

It kind of reminds me of not pron

Future

I've been feeling good lately, financially.  I don't make a 6 figure income (yet) but I'm starting to get wise with my money.  I started investing ... well, I have a higher interest savings account than my local bank.  When it gets large enough, I'm going into stocks and stuff.  But right now, I'm sowing seeds.

We've also looking at buying a place of our own, rather than rent.  History has shown it to be a good investment, except this year.  But, it's looking up.  Right now actually, is probably the best time to buy.  Interest rates are frozen, which sucks if you bought a home last year because now you're not making any money on it.  But, to buy a home right now is right, because the interest rates are frozen and it's got no where to go but up.  However, I'm in Salt Lake City and the market here is juuuust fine.

Right now, we're looking at buying a condo.  It's a nice start, but it doesn't accrue equity like a house.  Plus, you don't own any land and land is where the BIG money is.  But, right now, it's what we can afford for the area we want to live in.  So, we'll take the bad with the good.
